Come up to meet you, Tell you I’m sorry, You don’t know how lovely you are
hello fans, its debbie kelly again, that debi jack really is quite the slacker. so before we left anchorage we thought we would sample the night life. before heading out we went down to the "mud" less formally known as the beach. the sunset was pretty nice looking so we took a bunch of pictures of it, also it was real pretty because the train track ran along infront of the mud so when a train went by it looked kind of postcardy. so heres some pictures (check out how the train says alaska, thats right i got it):

sorry if that was a bit of a picture overload. but as i said i thought they were really nice. as usual the sky looked way nicer in real life but its just uncaptuarable. there were a tun of snowy mountains in the background to the right but its hard to see them.
so after the sun almost set...it takes forever so we left a little premiture... we headed to the pub. walked past this cool sign on the way

now this picture is rather dark and not to easy to see. but basically it was karaoke night. and this woman was real prepared. she brought along 2 puppets to sing backup ! amazing...

debi played the giant piano on the way home

oh and while i remember when we were in the bar we drunk a beer called naughty blonde...well i think that is what it was called. basically it was the best beer i have ever had. ok so i just found out that typing that into google does not produce the results i was hoping for.
so on friday we left anchorage and got the bus to homer. it takes 5 hours. the ride was real nice, we both slept for a bit but then debi seen a bear so we kept our eyes peeled and managed to see 2 moose. both woman ones though so no fuzzy antlers. there were also a lot of snowy mountains so i would definately recommend the journey.

although i would say, and i think debi would agree, that anchorage is not amazing. its alright but its not the alaska you think about...if you know what i mean by that. this is the wee bus we got

this is me queing for the loo at one of the stops...note said mountain

so at around 8:30 we arrived in homer and checked into the hostel. any town that has a theatre like this has got to be happening.

so we desided to go for a wee bit of a stroll....and low and behold. right there next to the road...its only a blooming moose !!

moosey mc moose moose mooserson !
i almost jumped out of my skin...

then i just went and got excited...i mean its not every day you see a moose.

debi was a little excited too !

i have a video of it too but i dont think il bother to upload it as it is only short and rather uneventful. oh and by the way i cant manage to get my film onto you tube. i only have it in dvd form. il work on it but i think it is beyond me.
so on satuarday we went on a wee bike ride...well a 10 mile bike ride. heres me looking fly

debi looking for whales

homer has this one bit that kind of drops down from it on the map, its like one long piece of land. its called the spit. its 3.2 miles long and is coverd in wee shops and places to eat and stuff. its pretty cool and is the main attraction of homer. heres a bunch of pictures from it:

its meeee !

im totally in love with this native american art that is about the place

we stopped here for some lunch

me downing some halibut, apparently this is the halibut capital of the world so i had to !

debi and her cod, there were some bald eagles swooping around outside, not THE bald eagle though.

this sign says "tsunami evacuation route" not a good idea to hang around...

a working light house

some strange number plate post...theres a kansas one on the bottom left !

and finally here is a map that debi put together so you can get a bit of an idea where we are and what we are up too

so just to recap...one more time with feeling. we got the bus down from anchorage to homer which is where we are right now. on tuesday at 10:30pm which is 1am (wed)kansas time and 7am (wed) uk time we are getting the ferry over to kodiak island. it takes 13hours, which is about what the ferry from aberdean to shetland takes(just so you can get a feel for it). we are staying there for 5 nights and then going to whittier for 3 nights. after that we are getting the ferry over to Juneau which is the capital of alaska. so thats you all up to date. me or debi might blog one more time before we leave here just to let you know what we got up to today and tomorrow, but kodiak may be low on the old internet. as may whittier, just a wee warning but im sure we will be able to get online at some point.
ok well thats all for now. sorry i had to change the lay out but it was cutting off bits of our pictures. see you soon x

dont go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that your used to
ok so welcome to our team deb(b)i(e) blog, debi here, or wee debi or blonde debi, whatever u prefer
so debbie finally arrived tue night at around 1.30am! i was geting pretty bored by the time she turned up, but it was so good to see her and that she had made it safe through her travel nightmare. so yesterday we ventured out into anchorage and went to the "best breakfast in anchorage" it was pretty good
me having a milkshake

then we headed downtown where we found plenty bears to hug. debbie ran and hugged the first one she found

me on the other hand having been here the day before knew there was a bigger one down the street, high 5

it then tried to punch me in the head!!

4th avenue, as u can see from the sign

the visitor centre, in a cute log cabin in the middle of the city

a not so typical american hotdog stand, here they all sell reindeer sausages!! poor rudolf

debbie with a moose in trousers

an alaskan licence plate

last night was a bit rainy so we bought some alaskan beer and stayed in and debbie adorned my dreads with beads

today we went to the alaska zoo, its the only zoo in america that specialises in northern animals
its sooooo wise! (debbie: so wise, you have no idea...so so wise)

this bear was soooo cute having a snooze

some black bears, the unimpressed one in the front is mavis

debbie trying to be a moose

lunchtime for everyone (debbie: we were sneaking cookiesin before our sandwiches, shhh)

the porcupine was definately the noisiest eater (debbie: my favorite animal by far, they are so cute to watch)

this was a monument to an elephant that they used to have, she used to paint and sold over 750 t-shirts with her designs!! wierd! (debbie: totally myideal job)

then we went for a walk, and the sun came out, yipee

me on a whale slide, weeeeeeeeeee

then i introduced debbie to the wonderful world of haki sac, she managed to get 9 on her 6th attempt, i think she's a natural
