.when you find out the road ahead of you is painted on a wall

debi here - so we arrived back in vancouver on monday i think, anyway we headed to the hostel only to find we'd only booked for one person, doh!! and they were full, so they arranged for us to stay at there other hostel on the beach about 20mins by bus out of town, so we'v been having a bit of a beach holiday for the last week or so and then moving into town on wed, which is good since we'r fed up geting the bus home after a night in the pub, not that we'v done much of going out at night. so we'v been hanging out on the beach, topping up the tans and trying a bit of skim boarding but generaly just chillin out in the sun

we managed to hook up with sol and milla for a couple of ciders in the sun

we rented some skim boards and took to the water, they were offering lessons but after watching a couple of people doing it we reconed it must be pretty easy. took a while to pick it up but once we did we loved it, we'r doing it again tomorrow, it was soooooo much fun








we managed to encourage milla to come hang out with us on the beach with some ciders, unfortunately she had to carry all the ciders from town, poor thing, but we really apreciated it




you gota be sneaky with ciders on the beach as its illegal to drink outside and the police patrol the beach, we hid them well

we also attended spain and canada's entries for the fireworks competition, we went into town to english bay on sat to watch canada's attempt, id post pics but they never come out great and you all know what fireworks look like. this is us waiting for it to go dark, as you can see it was still very sunny

on saturday we went to the world freestyle skateboarding comp, was well good, guys were skating old school on a flat bit of ground, we have a good vid of one of the best guys buy youtube is so rubbish these days we cant get it uploaded, might try again later, grr

and debbie bought some new shades, remember these from the 80's kids?


and some new headphones, looks like she slept in them


and here's a pic from our walk we went on today, along the beach and up to the uni which has a huge campus. there was a guy who drove his car of a cliff last week, it was in the news and as we were walking along the beach the police were having the car hauled away by a crane!


so thats the story so far, got loads more stuff to see and do before we head home, which is geting scarily close now (calm down i know your all very excited) so i recon you'l have maybe 1 or 2 more updates before you see our lovely tanned faces in the flesh

ok so Debi has blogged about Victoria below, we spent 10 days there then headed North to Tofino where we spent 5 days.


It was getting late when we arrived so once we dumped our stuff in the trek inn (great place to stay) we went out in search of food. i was having extreme meat cravings since i hadnt eaten meat in what felt like forever so we went out to find somewhere that would serve me a burger with steaks for the bun. unfortunately we couldnt find such a place so i settled for a steak sandwich with yam fries. it was the best. Debi had some lame veggie thing.

Tofino is kind of famous for its amazing sunsets, we caught one on the first night before the rain started. it was gorgeous as you can see from these pictures




the next day we went surfing at cox bay, pictured here


this is me in a wet suit...it pretty hot. if you ever wondered how i would look painted black this is pretty much it



surfing was pretty ace but very hard work! my wee arms were all weak. debi got up on her board and all the way to the shore on her first go. she is so jammy at stuff like that ! i never managed to stand on the board but i did do some knew surfing. i also managed and amazing trick called headbutting the board. it hurt a whole lot and i got a huge bump to prove it. ouch...heres a picture of me and the bump, i look grumpy because i was



as i said surfing is very tiring and totally knocked us out so i had a wee nap on a rock. check out my surf hair. yas



that night we went to the beach with a few drinks to enjoy the sun. we found a nice log and settled down for the night. Debi asked me to post this picture of her shoes as they are the best thing she has ever bought. well on this trip anyway. so here they are

we invested in a cool bag to keep our ciders and jucies nice and cold. here it is modelled by debi,

tofino was so pumping that we had to move from the trek inn to the hostel in the middle of our 5 day stay. it didnt matter much though because it was right down the road.

the next day we packed up a bit of a picnic and headed back to the beach. i created this before the sea came and took it away forever.

it rained though so we had to move about a little. this is a picture of debi dancing in the sea. or cleaning her flip flops...whichever


this is a humming bird feeder....the blur to the left is a humming bird. they are so fast!


on our last day in tofino we went bear watching. i hadnt seen one bear in the wild this whole time in north america so we desided it was time to pay for the privalage ! as it was raining we got to wear beautiful ponchos on top of our red jump suits.





here is the bear we saw, she had a cub with her, we got up pretty close and personal but we were in a boat and she was on land so all was well

so these days i drink tea...just a wee sidenote


it got a little rainy here so we spent pretty much the rest of our time in Tofino playing free pool


and that concludes our tofino part of the trip:) now we are in nanimo for 2 nights before going back to vancouver and thats where we are staying put until its time to go home !

oh and im going to start putting the names of the songs i use as titles here agian.

hi blogger fans, we'r still alive and well, just been in the land of no internet in tofino

we are now back in nanaimo (just had a nanaimo bar, YUM there good altho i think i will have to pass on the 5 bar challenge alex, one was more than enough to make me feel sick) so tofino was good (debbie's blogging about that so your in for a double blog extravaganza)

so victoria............we arrived there on the 16th and stayed for 10 nights, the place was pretty good and the sun shone pretty much the whole time, not so good was the accomodation, we were in a hostel dorm with 18 beds in it!! debbie was in bed 5 and i was in bed 10, so we wernt even close, it was noisey and hot and rubbish! but we kinda got used to it. we did a lot of hanging out in the park, seen the new harry potter movie, went to victoria pride, went to the titanic exhibition at the museum which was realy good, seen spiderman 3 at the imax, debbie got her hair cut, went to ska fest and watched people dance like crazy and i found a message in a bottle!!!!

we'l start with some general pics from victoria, its a very brittish kind of place, they have quite a few brittish shops, we went to one and got some quavers, it was amazing! lol















there was a lot of entertainers on the streets of victoria, this was one of the more interesting ones




as i said we spent a lot of time hanging out in the sun, it got up to 35 one day, phew!

so it was pride when we were in victoria and knowing what a drunken day of fun that usualy is we headed along for the march followed by drinking lots and lots of cider afterwards in the park where there was some realy good entertainment going on

after visiting so many micro breweries on our trip we thought we'd see if there was one to visit in victoria, what we found was the best thing ever, a cidery, thats right a place that makes cider and you can go there do a tour and sample all the ciders, bad news was there was no public transport there and it was miles away, only option would have been to hire a car and that kinda defeats the purpose esp since some ciders were 11%!! so what else could we do other than find out where to buy the cider in town, buy all the flavours and go sit in the park and have out own tasting. they were very erm..... "interesting"

one of the most exciting things that happened was me finding a message in a bottle, we were out stroling on the beach one evening and i spied it, couldnt believe it, whats the chances!! it was from a 15yr old girl called erica who was worried she'd never find true love, it was quite sweet and funny, here's an extract "one day my love will be found by someone amazing. We will meet at a concert inside a mosh pit, all sweaty and bruised. There will be an intense moment where we lock eyes and then we will get seperated by waves of horny, dancing, angry teenagers." oh to be 15 eh? i am going to send a reply in a bottle out to sea.

there were soooooo many extremely cool cars in victoria, this is just one many i would have happily taken home


we acidentaly stumbled upon the tallest totem pole in the world 127 ft 7 inches








then we hung out at another beach and spent a silly amount of time throwing rocks at floating logs, it amazing what you find amusing when you havnt worked for months

ska fest was on while we were in victoria, on the next street from the hostel and on the friday it was free so we went along, people were loving it big time and dancing like crazy


we had a couple of beers

well that was victoria, i have to say im missing the sun a lot, it has now rained for 3 days, feel like im back in scotland already!! debbie will be along shortly with the tofino update, i believe there is a sexy pic of her in a wet suit, your all in for a treat......enjoy
